Psalm 121
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills-- From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. This psalm is what is called a song of “Ascent”. This means that this one of the songs that the priest would lead in worship as the people ascended Mt Zion to worship the Lord their God. This Psalm is also a prophetic Psalm of the protecting power of god over those who serve Him. It is a revelation to my soul that God is always watching out for me, and He never grows tired of rescuing me or protecting me from evil. As a matter of fact the Lord delights in sheltering us, it pleases Him when we place our trust in His power and love over us. The message of this is. Remember who to look to in a time of trouble and rest in knowing as verse three says your God will not allow you to fall. But most important in verse eight He promises that from the moment I commit my life to serve Him that He will preserve me from this time forth and for evermore. So take your rest in Christ for God is in complete control!!!!
