When we look into scripture for personal study, prayer, teaching or preaching we find the Bible is packed full of promises that our Heavenly Father has given us. From the very beginning of the fall in the garden God gave us a promise of a savior and provided it in His beloved Son Jesus Christ.
Just like the Israelites in the books of Exodus and Numbers were promised to be delivered out of Egypt in which they had been 430 years. There were certain obstacles that kept all but two (Caleb and Joshua) of the original Israelites from crossing over into the Promised Land. The things that hindered them have parallels that are still hindering people from the promises of God today and keeping them wondering in a wilderness instead of enjoying the fulfillment of God’s promise to them They are: A wicked Pharaoh – Satan hates all the promises to you A wide Sea - the God that created the world can never be hindered by it A Wanting hunger and a Wailing Thirst – God will always provide for our natural needs even if its water from a rock and manna from heaven A Walled City – Remember there is no man made structure that can hinder God A Worrying heart and a Wagging tongue – it all comes down to whose report you are going to believe. For out of your heart come words of life or death.
