1 Kings 20:1-4
Now Ben-Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his forces together; thirty-two kings were with him, with horses and chariots. And he went up and besieged Samaria, and made war against it. 2 Then he sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel, and said to him, “Thus says Ben-Hadad: 3 ‘Your silver and your gold are mine; your loveliest wives and children are mine.’” 4 And the king of Israel answered and said, “My lord, O king, just as you say, I and all that I have are yours.” This scripture is speaking of absolute surrender. King Ahab who was a wicked king in Israel with a wicked wife named Jezebel, in order to try and avoid war was willing to completely surrender to the king of Syria, Ben-Hadad. The reason I use this is that the answer of Ahab to Ben-Hadad should be our answer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when we give complete surrender. The problem is that many of us only want to surrender chosen portions of our lives to Jesus without total surrender. We want to give Him our sin but not our money, we will willingly surrender our sickness but not our time, we say “I surrender my life Lord” but what Jesus wants is your heart. God is very clear that unless He is your first love, then He is not your love at all. If you are not burning with passion for Christ then you are lukewarm. I want to challenge you today to surrender all to Jesus and watch what He can do with a life that is completely given over unto Him
