From the Pastor's Desk

There was a time in King David’s life when he was without his mighty men, his best friend Jonathan, even his pastor Samuel was distant. It is here where he really learned to trust in God. For King Saul was in hot pursuit of him, and now he finds himself alone in Gath where Israel’s enemies dwelt.
In 1 Samuel 21:12-15 the scripture says that David began to act like a crazy man waving his hands at nothing, scratching on doors and gates, letting saliva run down his beard. He was to be King yet now he is humiliated before his enemy and being chased like an animal.
It was in this lonely state that David wrote Psalm 34 for he was in a place where there was no clear answer, direction, or provision, and no one coming to the rescue. But it’s in these places where God does His best work in our lives. For it’s here that we learn to trust.
Psalm 34:4-7
4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.
