1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;
 On Monday August 21,2017 between the hours of 2pm and 3pm we are going to be in the path of a partial solar eclipse. This only happens about every 100 years so obviously the scientific and social community is making a huge deal out of it.
But what has touched my heart about it is the fact that a solar eclipse is an invasion of darkness. Which simply means that it gets dark when there is supposed to be light.
This is the world that we live in. As we approach the coming of our Lord there is going to be more and more of an evasion of darkness upon the light. 
It is our call and election to be a light in the darkness. Specifically to be light and salt according to Matthew 5:13 to a corrupt world.
