1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
These two verses are so profound in explaining the plan of salvation for mankind. They also give us a map as an individual into victorious living in this life and the life to come.
This scripture tells us that there is witness everywhere that God loves us and has a plan for us. But we as an individual must see through the witness of God’s Word the things in this life that are weighing us down and make the choice to depart from willful acts of sin that ensnare us. You must see this for the enemy will never show you the trap of sin when you start, he never shows you the snare he cleverly puts up a smoke screen. That way you will not see the std or pregnancy at the end of fornication. He will not show you the addiction, degradation, and damage of drugs and alcohol with the first use. He hides the lives that are damaged by the gossip, backbiting, and judging of a religious spirit.
Our hope is to look unto Jesus who endured the penalty for our sin and is at God’s right hand so that we may, with joy run the race that is set before us.
