Matthew 5:13-16
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. We are called as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to be salt and light to this world. To be salt and light is a prime example of why the Newport Church of God sponsored the “Treat the Street Ministry” at the fairgrounds this year. We have an estimate of over 4,200 people showing up on Monday night October 31st at this meeting. We did all the prescribed things that are required of us as Christians at this event. We fed them, we loved them, and we preached the Gospel to them through drama and God’s Word. We may never know the full ramifications of all that took place at “Treat the Street” until we get in Glory. But I am so proud to pastor a church that has a vision to take the message of Jesus Christ to the masses instead of sitting within the four walls of a church and expecting them to come to us.
