1 Peter 5:5-7
5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. There are two very important points given in this passage of scripture that should direct and dictate everything else in our lives as Christians. The first one is to walk in humility before our God, for God does not work in the favor of the proud. This doesn’t mean for you to be a doormat for everyone to walk over, that’s not humility. True humility is being submissive to authority and to one another that is what this scripture is saying in verses 5 and 6. Then in verse 7 it gives us a very important remedy for all of our worry, our anxiety, and our fears. That is to simply cast ALL our cares and concerns upon the Lord our God knowing that He cares deeply for each and every one of us and His desire for us is to be filled with joy and abundance, not fear and lack. The point being is that when you cast your cares upon Him then you no longer carry them or worry with them for you have put them in the trust of your Heavenly Father knowing that He will work all things for your good and His glory. (Romans 8:28)
