Today is the 50th day since the Passover Feast or our Easter. The day when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, bringing victory to all that will receive Him as Lord.
But today is also a special day on the Jewish calendar it is the Feast of Pentecost or what we call Pentecostal Sunday. Now most modern protestant Christians associate Pentecost with a particular denomination or movement that believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in an unknown tongue. They do this because of what took place in Acts 2:1-4 where 120 believers were gathered together in one accord in an upper room and all of a sudden there was the sound of a rushing mighty wind. Then the Bible records that tongues of fire sat upon each one of them and they began to speak in other tongues the wonderful works of God. There are those who would say that this is not for today and that it passed with the Apostles, but there is absolutely no scriptural evidence to support this. Still others would teach that it is just for a select few, or certain denominations which is also a false teaching. The Baptism in the Holy Ghost with speaking in an unknown tongue is a supernatural event that is promised to all who would believe and accept it by faith. But far too many try to analyze it and weigh it against their logic, not realizing that the things of the spirit will never make since to carnal mind. It is my prayer as your pastor that each of you who are truly saved and washed with the blood of the Lamb that you might receive this powerful gift of Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
