 Colossians 3:1-3
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Paul instructs the church here to remember when the things of this world with its desires and affections start taking a greater hold on you than the things of God they all become out of balance with the Christian life. Thus when things of this world shine brighter than the things of God it always opens the door for a spiritual battle or weakening of the spirit.
Because we are fleshly beings there is always the capacity to allow this life to get us down or to frustrate us. It doesn’t have to be this way. I truly believe that it is the will of God for each of His children to walk in peace. Having said that if you will recall the words of our Lord in John 14:27 Jesus said He would give us peace, but not as the world gives peace. His peace would keep you from a troubled heart.
In Colossians 3:14 Paul says to let the peace of God rule in your hearts. That word rule in the Greek means to umpire or guide. The point is the peace that God gives cannot rule in your heart as long as the peace that the world gives does, for no man can have a divided heart even when it comes to peace. I want to encourage you today the God is still on the Throne, Jesus Christ is still Lord of all and you can have complete peace today.
“Peace, peace wonderful peace coming down from the Father above”
