Today is a very important day here at the Newport Church of God; for today is
the day we set aside to cast the vision for the year 2016 as well as look at all we accomplished in 2015 and evaluate what we can do better. I truly believe that one of the great failures in so many churches today is a lack of vision. This filters from the top down. It always starts with the leadership, for the vision must be cast and then embraced by the congregation. Vision has to be or should be a part of every area of our lives as a people of God. We should have vision for our families, our finances and our future. The vision that we have sets the course for the rest of our lives. Without a vision we do nothing more than just exist waiting for retirement or death, whichever comes first. But having a vision is the way we leave our signature on the life that we have lived, and pave the way for future generations that will follow us. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) 18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. The New Living Translation of this same scripture reads as thus; Proverbs 29:18 (NLT) 18 When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful. The point is that without a vision there is no discipline, there is no control, no joy, no direction. There is only death for the individual, the family, and the church. This is why it is imperative that we have a God given vision directing us by His Living Word.
