     This is the first Sunday as many of you well know, of the New Year 2016. Usually the New Year is a time of reflection on the pros and cons of the previous year and what we can do better in the year to come.
I do this every year as I prepare to cast the vision for the New Year and I also encourage the pastoral staff to do it with their area of ministry and responsibility within the church.
In my message last Sunday morning on “A Compass For Change” one of the sub points was to write down the goals that you have or what you would like to accomplish short term and long term. For something’s you can do quickly others take time and preparation in order to succeed in your goal.
A scripture that I use every year for this is Habakkuk 2:2 which states, “Write the vision and make it plain so he that reads it can run with it”. God explains why He instructed Habakkuk to do this in verse 3 when He says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry”.
God gives us these instructions because we will gain what we wait and watch for, but we will lose what we forget and ignore.
So write down your goals and vision, line it up with scripture, then keep it before your eyes and in your mind and you will gain it in 2016.
